Summit’s team is inspired to touch and help change lives through Summit’s clinical studies in the field of oncology. Summit has multiple global Phase 3 clinical studies, including:

Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

  • HARMONi: Phase 3 clinical study which was intended to evaluate ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy compared to placebo plus chemotherapy in patients with EGFR-mutated, locally advanced or metastatic non-squamous NSCLC who were previously treated with a 3rd generation EGFR TKI.

  • HARMONi-3: Phase 3 clinical study which is intended to evaluate ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy compared to pembrolizumab combined with chemotherapy in patients with first-line metastatic NSCLC.

  • HARMONi-7: Phase 3 clinical study which is intended to evaluate ivonescimab monotherapy compared to pembrolizumab monotherapy in patients with first-line metastatic NSCLC.

Colorectal Cancer (CRC)

  • HARMONi-GI3: Phase 3 clinical study intended to evaluate ivonescimab in combination with chemotherapy compared with bevacizumab plus chemotherapy.

Ivonescimab is an investigational therapy not presently approved by any regulatory authority other than China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA). Summit is headquartered in Miami, Florida, and has additional offices in California, New Jersey, the UK, and Ireland.

Position Overview:

The Senior Manager, Medical Education & Grants (SM) is responsible for helping build, execute, and optimize Summit’s independent and continuous medical education programs (IME/CME) in alignment with the company’s scientific and medical strategy.

The SM will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of medical education grants and sponsorships, including needs assessment, review, decision-making, compliance oversight, outcomes evaluation, and insights generation. This individual will collaborate closely with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Compliance, Legal, Medical Communications, Patient Advocacy, HEOR, Market Access, and Finance to ensure all activities are scientifically rigorous, compliant, and strategically aligned.

This is an onsite role based in Palo Alto, CA, reporting to the Head of Medical Communications & Information.

Key Responsibilities:

Medical Education Strategy & Infrastructure Development

  • Assist in building and implementing Summit’s Medical Education & Grants operating model, including processes, timelines, governance, systems, and cross-functional workflows.
  • Help develop and execute comprehensive medical education plans for assigned therapeutic areas, as aligned with Medical Affairs strategy and launch priorities.
  • Facilitate the strategic planning and execution of regional and national medical education initiatives (e.g., symposia, workshops, online sessions, etc), ensuring educational content aligns with the strategy, scientific objectives, and audience needs.
  • Serve as the liaison with faculty and the IME providers to develop, refine, and review content that is both scientifically accurate and educationally engaging.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (Medical Affairs, Clinical, Regulatory, Compliance, Marketing) to ensure alignment and compliance across all programs.
  • Serve as the internal expert on IME regulations, industry standards, and best practices (ACCME, OIG, PhRMA, Sunshine Act).
  • Represent Summit on-site at symposia and workshops to oversee program execution and faculty engagement.

Grant & Sponsorship Review, Decision-Making, and Oversight

  • Support establishing mechanisms for needs assessment, educational gap analysis, and strategic prioritization of grant and sponsorship funding.
  • Monitor and perform initial review of grant and sponsorship requests for completeness and alignment to industry and company guidelines.
  • Process requests, to include communication of grant decisions to internal and external parties and issuing of payment to requestors, addressing any educational gap and strategic priorities uncovered.
  • Engage with different education providers and platforms to understand available education opportunities and uncover innovative education engagements.
  • Ensure timely, compliant, and well-documented decision-making aligned with Summit’s scientific and medical objectives.
  • Schedule and lead monthly Grants and Sponsorship Committee meetings, distribute review materials to the team prior to the meeting, prepare presentation materials, and send concise and accurate meeting minutes and action items.
  • Oversee execution of funded programs, including reconciliation review, outcomes assessment, and documentation.
  • Maintain 100% compliance with internal SOPs, regulatory requirements, and industry guidelines.

Insights, Metrics & Reporting

  • Develop dashboards and reporting mechanisms to track activities, budget utilization, educational outcomes, and scientific insights.
  • Analyze trends in HCP learning preferences, competitor educational strategies, and emerging IME models.
  • Synthesize insights from supported programs to inform Medical Affairs strategy, evidence generation, and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Present updates and insights to Medical Affairs leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Monitor trends in medical education to inform program innovation and strategic planning.
  • Track all IME, grants, and sponsorship activities against the allocated budget.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline required.
  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, MPH, MS) strongly preferred.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech Medical Affairs, Medical Education, Grants Management, or related function.
  • Experience reviewing, managing, or executing independent medical education grants and sponsorships.
  • Strong understanding of PhRMA Code, OIG guidance, ACCME standards, and other relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks.
  • Oncology experience preferred; launch-stage biotech experience a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong scientific acumen with the ability to evaluate educational needs and interpret complex clinical data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across functions.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build new processes and capabilities in a growing organization.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with grant management platforms.
  • Ability to travel to scientific congresses and internal meetings (~20%).

The pay range for this role is $174,000-$204,000 annually. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable variable compensation.
