Summit’s team is inspired to touch and help change lives through Summit’s clinical studies in the field of oncology. Summit has multiple global Phase 3 clinical studies, including:

Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

  • HARMONi: Phase 3 clinical study which was intended to evaluate ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy compared to placebo plus chemotherapy in patients with EGFR-mutated, locally advanced or metastatic non-squamous NSCLC who were previously treated with a 3rd generation EGFR TKI.

  • HARMONi-3: Phase 3 clinical study which is intended to evaluate ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy compared to pembrolizumab combined with chemotherapy in patients with first-line metastatic NSCLC.

  • HARMONi-7: Phase 3 clinical study which is intended to evaluate ivonescimab monotherapy compared to pembrolizumab monotherapy in patients with first-line metastatic NSCLC.

Colorectal Cancer (CRC)

  • HARMONi-GI3: Phase 3 clinical study intended to evaluate ivonescimab in combination with chemotherapy compared with bevacizumab plus chemotherapy.

Ivonescimab is an investigational therapy not presently approved by any regulatory authority other than China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA). Summit is headquartered in Miami, Florida, and has additional offices in California, New Jersey, the UK, and Ireland.


Overview of Role:

Summit Therapeutics is seeking a Managed Care Liaison (MCL), to join our mission of developing Ivonescimab, a novel and unique immunotherapy with the potential to help patients suffering from life-threatening cancers.

The Managed Care Liaison (MCL) is a critical member of an expanding team, responsible for interfacing with US population-based decision makers (PBDMs) including payers, health systems, clinical pathway organizations, P&T committees, and policy makers. The MCL educates key stakeholders on clinical, economic, and humanistic impact of ivonescimab to help inform formulary access, pathway/guideline decisions, and improve lives of cancer patients. Providing objective and scientifically sound medical information on ivonescimab and the relevant disease states through use of economic models, outcomes tools, educational programs, and collaborations to enhance key stakeholder recognition of Summit Therapeutics. The MCL will compliantly partner with the commercial market access field team to facilitate access to ivonescimab through proactive engagement with organized customers, ensuring the delivery of accurate, non-promotional medical information.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Independently cultivate and manage relationships with PBDMs, acting as primary point of contact and collaborating closely with other field roles to ensure an aligned approach to stakeholder engagement
  • Collaborate with internal HEOR team and market access team, to execute on scientific engagement strategy for appropriate stakeholders (e.g., Payers, PBMs, GPOs, IDNs and Oncology Pathways) within a territory or customer base
  • Serve as a conduit and resource for providing clinical and healthcare economic information (HCEI) to payers and formulary decision-makers
  • Maintaining required knowledge of ivonescimab, to proactively and reactively communicate clinical and economic information related to ivonescimab to advance formulary decision-making and improve patient outcomes
  • Capture and communicate internally key stakeholder insights and evidence gaps/needs including potential opportunities for collaboration
  • Understand the medical affairs priorities to contribute to content strategy development and execute aligned field tactics
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure inclusion of ivonescimab in clinical/payer pathways, and treatment order sets, while optimizing budget assessments.
  • Collaborate effectively with medical affairs, HEOR, market access and other colleagues as appropriate in support of developing and implementing account engagement plan, providing input on scientific and value topics
  • Understanding of principles of study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation to successfully communicate data to stakeholders
  • Utilize and effectively present clinical, humanistic, and economic evidence as well as the value proposition in a clear and compelling manner to the payer audience
  • Maintain understanding of market and payer needs in an increasingly complex and dynamic environment to drive actionable recommendations to inform medical and market access strategy
  • All other duties as assigned

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • MD, PharmD, or PhD in Health Services Research, Health Economics, or related field
  • Minimum of 12+ years relevant experience in healthcare industry with minimum 5+ years direct experience in the pharmaceutical, managed care, or consulting industries
  • Previous experience in Oncology, preferably non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
  • Previous experience in field-based role with strong understanding of the US healthcare system, market access landscape and value-based decision makers
  • Experience analyzing health care data and utilizing real-world evidence (RWE) is a plus
  • Strong analytical capabilities and excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate large amounts of scientific information in a manner that is clear, concise and memorable
  • Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and manage multiple stakeholders with ability to influence and collaborate to make a business impact
  • Ability to be proactive, enthusiastic and goal oriented
  • Travel up to approximately 75% of time, including overnight travel for internal and external meetings

The pay range for this role is $195,000 - $215,000 annually. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable variable compensation.
